Drills, Drills
Went to my second Wednesday hockey clinic last night. Lots of passing drills this time around. My legs and brain have definitely come around, building up a separate muscle memory bank for ice hockey in addition to roller. I’m focusing more on a few basic things, like keeping my head up all the time, keeping my stick on the ice, and pushing the puck on straightaways instead of trying to lug it the whole time.
During the first drill a guy ripped a shot right off a goalie’s dome, even though we were just supposed to help them warm up and give them some pad-level shots to get into a rhythm. Coaches stopped the drill, yelled at everyone, and had us run the drill again. What does the guy do? Fires another shot high. Unbelievable. It’s not the Stanley Cup finals, people.
